Lauren B. Johnston, 70, of Pine Ave. in Kane, PA
Lauren B. Johnston, 70, of Pine Ave. in Kane, PA passed away Tuesday (Sept 19) at UPMC-Kane.
Born Jan. 30, 1953 in Butler, she is the daughter of the late Jesse and Bettye (Wilkes) Fithian. She married Dan Johnston, who survives, on Feb. 24, 1973, in Parker, PA.
Lauren had worked in many places throughout her life. She was a teachers aide, had worked for Thompson Floor Covering and also J&P Casuals, Tops Market and Karlene Landscaping. Her favorite job was when she owned the Kids Stuff store.
She loved all things summer, sunshine, beaches, sunflowers, vacations and her swimming pool. She hated winter (despite living in Kane the majority of her life), but loved jackets, hot tea and Christmas. She loved to buy silly gifts and play bingo to give out prizes to the grandkids so that there were a million little gifts to open. She loved to listen to the Beatles and Journey and loved to shop and socialize at the “Boutique” with many friends and family.
You could always find her sitting on her swing with her dog Honey and entertaining friends and family by the fire. Lauren was a lover of technology and also the weather. She kept a weather journal and loved to read the farmer’s almanac. A true lover of earth and space. She was immensely proud of all of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews which was proven by the tons of pictures she had of all of them. She had a lifelong group of close friends and a girl’s breakfast crew that will miss her terribly.
Surviving in addition to her husband is one daughter, Stacey (Shannon) Powell of Langhorne; one son Bryan (Ruth Cortez) Johnston of Clayton, NC; one brother Bradley (Kathy) Fithian of Russell, 4 grandchildren (Sydney, Shaelee, Stone and Zellie) and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday (Sept. 23) at the Cummings Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Sunday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Calvin Cook officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
