Alana Corey is the Student of the Week at Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center
She is in the morning session of the Early Childhood Education program at the Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center. Alana is a senior enrolled at Port Allegany High School. Upon graduation, Alana would like to pursue her teaching certificate in special education.
Alana is a student that is extremely helpful to the other students. She offers to assist and has done many tours, led activities, and stepped in to instruct at Port Allegany Elementary where she was placed last year in Kindergarten. She currently works at SW Smith Library as a Circulation Desk Aide. Some of her extracurricular activities include Tutoring elementary and middle school students, serving on Prom committee and supporting the Special Olympics Bocce Ball team as a captain. She has volunteered at Open Arms Church, community swims, and Camp JJ.
Alana enjoys reading in free time, as well as spending time with her younger sister. We look forward to her efforts paying off as she strives to attain her Child Development Associate credential in the near future. Alana describes herself as a “ compassionate, laid-back, creative person” and her teacher, Mrs. Mooney would add by saying she has skills in collaboration, adaptability, and communication.
