Shirley Thompson Beam, 69, formerly of Huntington Twp. and currently of Ulysses, PA died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, in Williamsport Hospital.

Born Jan. 19, 1954, in Farmington, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Orie and Alice Cochran Thompson.

On Aug. 24, 1985, she married the late Melvin W. “Mel” Beam. Together, they celebrated 25 years of marriage before his death on Aug. 29, 2015.

Shirley loved her family and enjoyed her time raising her children. She also liked to do crafts and go fishing.

Surviving are her three children, Daniel Beam, Ulysses; Lori Beam and her partner, Michael Overwise, Sweet Valley; and Crystle Beam and her significant other, David London, Sweet Valley; three stepchildren, Melvin Beam Jr., Vermont; Deborah Huff, New Jersey; and Sheryl Ann Beam, Florida; several brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren, AnnaLynn and Chase Overwise, Sweet Valley.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mayo Funeral Home, 77 North Main St., Shickshinny, followed by a funeral service officiated by the Rev. Jim Parks of The First Presbyterian Church, Shickshinny.

Interment will be in Scott Cemetery, Waterton.
