Betty Jane Swineford, 97, formerly of Leonard Run, Limestone NY, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born June 29, 1926, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Odehl and Malvina (Hillard) Ekdahl.

Betty attended Mt. Alton schools, and graduated from Bradford High School.

On March 25, 1948, in Bradford, she married Ralph R. “Bud” Swineford who preceded her in death on June 28, 2001.

Betty had been employed at Acme Electric Company in Olean.

She was a former member of the EUB Church in Lewis Run and an Charter  Member of the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving is one nephew, Randy (Betsy) Ekdahl, of Bradford, one niece, Charlene Detweiler, of Erie, three grand nieces, Danielle (Casey) Whyte, Krystal (Jason) Howles, and Casandra (Phil) Bull, and several great grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bud, one brother Donald (Alice) Ekdahl, and one sister, Helen Dawley.

Private services for family will be held with Rev. Jay Tennies, Pastor of the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials if desired, may be made the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church.
