Honey R. DUNN, of Ulysses, PA
Honey R. DUNN, of Ulysses, PA, reached her heavenly destination on June 6, 2023, in Greenville, NC. Her family was beside her throughout her journey, holding her hands with heavy hearts but comforted knowing she would be with the Lord and reunited with family and friends who went before her.
Honey is survived by her husband, John. They were married for 34 years and loved each other very much. There wasn’t much that Honey did without John by her side. They planned and worked hard for the Dunn and Rounds reunions and united those families in special times with memories made for years to come.
Honey was born in Harrison Valley, PA on July 30, 1933, and as the youngest of Walton and Myra (Thompson) Rounds’ seven children, she was everyone’s ”Honey” from that day on. She graduated from Harrison Valley High School and went on to fulfill her dream of motherhood with what she considered her 5 greatest accomplishments. Honey was a familiar face in the school cafeteria for many years taking great pride in serving food to all the children who passed through the lunch line over the years. At the age of 50, Honey went back to school to get her nursing license and found great satisfaction working with Dr. Davis caring for the community.
Honey learned from her mother that you could nourish a body and a soul serving food with love and sharing what you had with those in need. She opened her heart and her door to strangers and loved ones, making all feel welcome.
Honey was known for many skills and talents – sewing, crafting, quilting, painting to name a few. She loved to travel and never said no to a trip. She was rarely still and looked for opportunities to try new things and meet new people.
Honey’s greatest joy was her children and she cherished them. She took great joy in her grandchildren and made lasting memories with each of them, taking them camping and spending quality time with them. She loved to sit and watch her great grandchildren play and of course, thought none could quite compare. Honey was the happiest at family events which had become quite large and noisy with her growing family, and she took every moment in with gratitude, knowing these times were a gift from God.
All who knew Honey knew she was devoted to God. Throughout her whole life she attended church, first in Harrison Valley where she often played piano, and then in Ulysses. She shared her faith openly by being such a steadfast steward of the Lord in her daily life.
Wife, Mom, Aunt, Sister, Sister-in-law, Grandma Honey, friend – whatever the relationship might have been, Honey left a legacy of love and laughter with the lives she touched and will be missed more than words can express.
Friends may call at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Crematory, Ulysses, PA on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 6:00 ā 8:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 24, 2023 in the Free Methodist Church, Ulysses. Her nephew, Rev. Allyn R. Baker, will officiate.
