Phyllis J. Maxson, 87, of Manor Hills, Wellsville and formerly of West Clarksville and Friendship
Phyllis J. Maxson, 87, of Manor Hills, Wellsville and formerly of West Clarksville and Friendship passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born on June 28, 1935, in Clarksville, she was a daughter of Kenneth and Irene Rork Smith. On August 4, 1953, in Shinglehouse, she married Kenneth H. Maxson and they shared 67 years of marriage until his passing on July 7, 2021. Phyllis was a graduate of Richburg Central School’s Class of 1953. She had been employed for many years at Cuba Memorial and Olean General Hospital as a registration clerk until her retirement in 2000. She was a charter member of the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and the Allegany County Fireman’s Auxiliary. She was a also a member of the Cuba Senior Citizens organization. Phyllis loved rock and roll music, gardening, walking, cars and car shows, and dancing the night away with her beloved Ken. She was affectionately known by their children as the family seamstress and stain remover. Left to cherish her memory are 3 daughters, Lisa (Rodney) Yates of Belmont, Leslie Maxson of Atlantic Highlands, NJ and Laurie (David) Johnson of Friendship; 6 grandchildren; Philip, Jessica, Erica, Ryan, Jillian, and Elena; 11 great-grandchildren; Hannah, Cynthia, Mathew, Lexi, Destany, Preston, Luke, Harmony, Seth, Dawson, and Danica; 2 Great-great grandchildren; Kaynin and Kopelyn; 3 Sisters, Jean Feaster of Emmett, Idaho, Donna Appleby of Allegany and Sue (Mark) Klick of Sebastopole, CA; Sister-in-law, Jane Stebbins of Fort Myers, FL; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Michele Shaw. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, son Joel, and a brother, Don. Friends and family may call at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 5-7 at which time a Memorial Service will be held. Pastor Bryan Dobney, of the West Clarksville Church, will officiate. Memorial Suggestions include the Allegany County Firemen’s Auxiliary, West Clarksville Baptist Church, Allegany County Office of the Aging, or to the SPCA serving Allegany County. |
