Mary Twila Gleixner, 89, of Silver Creek Terrace and formerly of 375 Krug Lane, St. Marys, PA passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Penn Highlands Elk after a brief illness.

She was born November 21, 1933 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Edward and Clara Hasselman Krug.  She was a lifelong resident of St. Marys.  Twila graduated from St. Marys High School, Class of 1951, earned a degree in education from Penn State University, and taught at the local schools.

On August 27, 1955 in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she married the late Jude R. Gleixner, who preceded her in death on May 28, 2014.

She is survived by her children: Sandy (Mike) Latini of Glenshaw, Mike (Paula) Gleixner of State College, Sue (Bill) Rominski of Sutersville, and Ann (Bruce) Hermanowicz of St. Marys; four grandchildren: Abigail (Jeremy) Cramer, Laura (Will Lacek) Latini, Alison (Pat) Laninger, and Josh (Lina) Latini; three great-grandchildren: Kyle Cramer, Thomas Laninger, and Valentina Latini; two sisters: Dorothy Marciniak of Rhode Island, and Clara Bezek of North Carolina; a sister-in-law Bea Ward of Florida; and by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Twila was preceded in death by three sisters: Mary Schlimm, Rita Straub, and Martha Krug in infancy; and by six brothers: Richard, Gilbert, Raymond, James, Earl, and William Krug.

She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a committed member of her community.  She was the chairperson of the Police Civil Service Commission, a member of the St. Marys Area School Board, and a member of the Elk County Assistance Board.

Funeral services will be held privately by the family.
