4/10/2023 @ 02:44 Dept 5, 16 and 17 were dispatched to 530 Howland Hill Rd, Westfield Township to a vehicle fire at Painterland Farms.
Chief 16 was first on scene, reported a tractor, full involved, located near a barn but far enough away to make extension to the barn unlikely. He also discovered a downed wire and notified responding units.
Engine 5-3, Chief 5-10 and Chief 5-20 responded at 02:52 with a crew of 6. Engine 16-2, Patrol 16-2, Patrol 17-4 and Engine 17-2 responded automatic aid. Chief 5-30 responded to scene and set up Westfield Command at 02:58. Engine 5-3 arrived at 02:58 and crew quickly put the bumper line into service, using foam to gain control of the fire. Extinguishment and overhaul activities continued for approximately 40 minutes.
Tri-County Electric was contacted and responded to repair the downed line. Fire was reported out at 03:43. The tractor is a total loss, but crews were able to contain the fire to the originating object, with no injuries reporting and no further property damage apparent. All Dept 5 units returned at 03:53 and back in service at around 05:00.
Thank you to all responders. Although the loss of a major piece of farm equipment hurts financially, we are thankful that no extension occurred and no people or animals were injured.
