17 YEAR OLD FEMALE CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AT CMHS
MARCH 8, 2023 BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP- Clinton County District Attorney Dave Strouse announced Wednesday that a 17-year-old female from Lock Haven City has been charged in connection with an alleged attack on another student inside Central Mountain High School on Monday, March 6th.
The 17-year-old was charged by Trooper Grant Ralston of the Pennsylvania State Police at Lamar in the Clinton County Juvenile Court Division with Aggravated Assault, Felony of the 1st degree; Simple Assault, Misdemeanor of the 2nd degree; and Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor of the 2nd degree.
State Police allege that 17-year-old physically assaulted a younger female student inside a high school restroom, resulting in potentially serious injuries.
CMHS Administrators quickly learned of the incident Monday morning and coordinated with KCSD School Resource Officers to immediately refer the criminal investigation to State Police. Charges were approved by DA Strouse Wednesday morning and filed with the Clinton County Juvenile Court Division. Police allege that the incident was captured by other students who recorded the incident on their cell phones.
Clinton County Juvenile Probation Officers took the juvenile into custody and placed her into a juvenile detention facility on Wednesday morning. A hearing will be held within 3 days before the Court of Common Pleas to determine whether the juvenile should remain in a detention facility.
Due to the severity of the crimes charged, the Commonwealth may petition the Court to transfer the case to the adult criminal court level if certain criteria exist. The District Attorney’s office is gathering more information at this time to determine whether a transfer petition will be filed.
