Owlett to Serve as Conservative Voice on Key House Committees
HARRISBURG – Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford) has been appointed to four key state House committees for the 2023-24 Legislative Session.
Owlett was selected by House Republican leadership to serve on the House Agriculture, Appropriations, Ethics and Judiciary committees.
“We face serious challenges in this Commonwealth, and it is more important than ever to be a strong voice for our conservative values,” Owlett said. “With Democrats holding a very slim majority in the House, we must stand strong in support of Second Amendment rights, responsible budgeting, and transparency and accountability. We must also continue to advance policies that allow our state’s top industry – agriculture – to grow and thrive.”
The House Appropriations Committee is responsible for digging into the details of the governor’s annual state budget proposal and then developing a final spending plan. Owlett will fight to keep spending in check and oppose tax increases that would further burden residents or employers.
The House Judiciary Committee handles a variety of criminal justice issues. It is also the committee to which bills targeting the Second Amendment are referred. Owlett will always stand up for Pennsylvanians’ constitutional rights.
The House Ethics Committee is charged with conducting investigations and hearings about individuals on matters such as conflicts of interests and misconduct while carrying out legislative duties.
The House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee deals with an array of legislation directly affecting the state’s farmers and farming operations. It also handles issues impacting the timber industry, horse and harness racing regulations, food safety and restaurant inspections, and more.
