Clarence S. “Stew” Johnson Jr., 73, of Oak St. Ext. in Kane,
Clarence S. “Stew” Johnson Jr., 73, of Oak St. Ext. in Kane, passed away Friday (Feb. 24) at UPMC-Hamot. He was born Feb. 27, 1949 in Kane, the son of the late Clarence and M. Joanne (Carlson) Johnson.
Stew had worked at Stackpole for many years, up until its closing in Kane. He also was a self employed photographer and after he retired he cooked at the Moose club. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and spent over 18 months in Guam.
He is survived by one daughter, Heather (Chad) Raught; two brothers, Neil (Dee) Johnson and Rodney (Muriel) Johnson, both of Ludlow; four sisters, Mary Carol (Greg) Rich of Indiana, PA, Jackie (Bud Bifano) Johnson of Shippenville, Barbara (John) Hetrick of Kane and Julianne (John) Horton of Kane; two granddaughters Caliann and Cara Kribbs; and one step granddaughter, Raeann Raught and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rebecca Johnson and two brothers, Thomas “TJ” Johnson and Roger “RJ” Johnson.
Friends are invited to attend a visitation at the Cummings Funeral Home on Tuesday (Feb 28) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral ceremony will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. David Pflieger officiating. Burial will be in Gibbs Hill Cemetery.
