LaRue L. Heyd, 93, of Liberty, PA passed away Saturday February 18, 2023, at UPMC Williamsport.
He was born November 8, 1929, in Liberty, son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Heyler) Heyd. LaRue married the former Esther M. Beck on August 27, 1955, and they have celebrated 67 years of marriage.
LaRue was a second-generation dairy farmer, taking over his family farm in 1960. He raised chickens and operated an egg route to Williamsport that was started by his father in 1928. He was a milk tester and an artificial breeder for several years.
LaRue was a very active member of Nauvoo St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where his beautiful tenor voice could often be heard. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Laurel Hill Hunting Club, and was active with 4-H in Liberty. He loved to sing and enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and gardening.
In addition to his wife, Esther, LaRue is survived by daughters, Wendy (Glenn) Adam of New Tripoli; and Trudy (Jeff) Faivre of Nauvoo; grandchildren, Tia (Jordan) Kinley, Deprise (Chad) Nickerson, and Asti Faivre, and great grandchildren, Beck and Regn Nickerson.
In addition to his parents, LaRue was preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Donald Heyd, and a sister, A. Elizabeth Zeafla.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects, Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 5-6:30 pm at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro and Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 10:00-11:30 am at the Nauvoo St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, located right off Linck Hill Rd. and Nauvoo Rd. in Nauvoo. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 am, with Pastor Tom Harmic, officiating. Burial will be in Salem-St.Paul’s Cemetery, Liberty.
