Kerry A. Dickerson WEST, 63, of Whitesville, NY, died Sunday, February 19, 2023 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, following a short illness.
Born January 29, 1960, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Teddy E. and Andrea Lynne Kear Dickerson. On August 2, 1986, in Whitesville, she married Mark A. West, who survives.
A 1977 graduate of Northern Potter High School in Ulysses, PA, she earned a degree in French from Lock Haven University. Her professional career was spent with Half-Price Books which took her from Corpus Christi to Houston, TX, and then to Cleveland, OH.
She and her husband joyfully retired to Whitesville, being the fourth generation to reside in the family homestead, The Baker-Kear House. After moving to Whitesville, she became a substitute teacher at Whitesville Central School. She was vice regent of the Catherine Schuyler Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Allegany County.
Kerry was a member of the Independence Historical Society and a former member of the Whitesville Public Library Board of Trustees.
Surviving besides her husband, Mark, are: a son, Kearney J. West, of Youngstown, OH; four siblings, Kelly Dickerson of Wellsville, Jerri (Richard) Theer of Youngsville, NC, Todd Dickerson of Ulysses, PA, and Tracey “Muffy” (Kurt) Ballerstein of Clyde; a brother-in-law, Matthew Loiselle of Saginaw, MI; four nieces; two nephews; the Kear & Dickerson family cousins; two aunts, Leah (Richard) Dibble of Keuka Park and Mary Ellen (Richard) Van Etten of Wellsville; and an uncle, Tony DeSain of Shongo.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved maternal grandparents, Leland “Skip” and Naomi “Dot” Baker Kear.
Friends may call at the Baker-Kear Residence, 919 Maple Ave, Whitesville on Saturday, February 25 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday in the First United Methodist Church, Whitesville.
