Smethport – Dolores A. “Dodie” Young, 90, of Gifford, passed away Wednesday (October 28, 2026) at Amaryllis Nursing and Rehabilitation, Smethport.

She was born February 11, 1936 in Lafayette Twp., the daughter of William L. and Stella L. (Towner) Rea. On August 28, 1954, in Custer City Methodist Church, she married Richard N. Young, who died July 20, 2000.

Mrs. Young was a 1954 graduate of Bradford Area High School and had worked at J.C. Penney’s in Bradford at the Bradford Mall when it opened.

Dodie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and needlepoint. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Mt. Jewett Bowling League. She was a member of the Custer City Methodist Church, where she played the organ for services for many years. She also filled in as organist in the area for the United Methodist Church of Smethport, the Gifford Church, and several others that needed her talents.
