Smethport – Doris E. Gustafson, 92, of Smethport, passed away Saturday (October 24, 2026) at her home in Smethport.

She was born April 7, 1934 in Farmers Valley, PA, the daughter of Darel and Esther (Carpenter) Raught. On October 2, 1954, in Smethport, PA, she married Ralph L. Gustafson, who passed away October 26, 2019.

Mrs. Gustafson was a graduate of Smethport Area High School Class of 1952 and was employed for 40 years at Hamlin Bank & Trust of Smethport where she worked for Presidents Orlo J. Hamlin, O Albert Johnson, Robert A. Digel Sr, Robert “Dick” Brown, Robert Digel, Jr, and Martin Digel. She enjoyed a special relationship with “the girls” who worked with her.

She also served as auditor for Keating Township.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Smethport. She was a member of the Scandinavian Lassies (S-L) card club. She worked and volunteered for many years at the Community Food Bank in Smethport.

Of all the things she treasured in life, none meant more to her than her family. They were her greatest pride, her deepest joy, and the heart of everything she did.

She is survived by:  

Two sons: Ralph E. (Kathryn) Gustafson and Brian L. Gustafson, both of Smethport, PA  

Four grandchildren: Matthew (Amanda) Gustafson, Rachel (Scott) DeBruycker, Katherine and Emily Gustafson  

Four great grandchildren: Canon, Octavian, Aurelian, and Madeline 

One sister: Marilyn Roslinski of Bradford, PA

Two loved former daughter-in-laws: Nancy Sample and Amy Gustafson of Smethport, PA 

Several nieces and nephews

And two special care providers Tori Campbell and Shalene Wymer

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 65 years.

There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 11AM in Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport. Burial will be in the Gustafson Family Cemetery, Smethport.
