One Fund, Many Communities: McKean County Community Fund Supports Local Projects

The McKean County Community Foundation (MCCF) is pleased to announce recent grants from the McKean County Community Fund supporting projects in Port Allegany and Kane. These grants reflect the fund’s commitment to strengthening communities throughout McKean County by supporting programs and projects that make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents.
The Port Allegany School District was awarded a $2,000 grant to assist with the purchase of a new kiln for its art program. Art teacher Doug Triplett identified the need for updated equipment to continue providing students with valuable hands-on learning experiences. With additional support from the Joe DeMott Community Fund, this project will help provide students with opportunities to explore their creativity and develop their artistic abilities for years to come.
The Lutheran Home at Kane was awarded a $1,000 grant for its Healthy Weights Program, an initiative focused on improving the health, comfort, and quality of care for its residents. The grant will support the purchase of a portable chair scale, allowing staff to monitor resident weights more accurately and with greater ease. Regular weight monitoring plays an important role in identifying potential health concerns, while the portable equipment will help reduce the stress and discomfort of moving residents for routine weigh-ins. This improvement will benefit approximately 75 current residents, as well as future residents of the Lutheran Home.
Although these projects serve different needs, both demonstrate the importance of having charitable resources available to respond to opportunities throughout McKean County. From supporting educational experiences for students to enhancing the quality of care for seniors, the McKean County Community Fund helps make worthwhile projects possible.
