The Knoxville VFW Post 6753 is hosting a fundraiser to benefit local animals in need on Saturday, Oct. 24, noon to 4 p.m.

The event includes a chance auction with a variety of new and antique items. A homemade chicken and biscuits dinner will be available for $15. Proceeds benefit Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries, a 501c3 nonprofit animal shelter and rescue helping abandoned, homeless and at-risk dogs and cats in Tioga County, Pa. Separate collections of items and monetary donations for Second Chance will also be taken at the event.

This year’s Homeless Animal Benefit is in memory of Jerry Gaye, a longtime Osceola resident and senior vice commander at the VFW who passed away in July. Gaye, a lifelong animal lover, hosted 10 such benefits himself from 2014 to 2024, with the last seven benefiting Second Chance.

Anyone wishing to donate items for the auction can drop them off at the VFW (703 Boatman Rd., Knoxville, PA), Second Chance (725 Gee Rd., Tioga, PA), or Blend’s Feed & Farm (7788 Route 49, Osceola, PA). For questions or more information, contact the VFW at 814-326-4321.
