The Elk County Community Fund continues to invest in organizations, volunteers, and projects that make a difference in Elk County every day. During its most recent grant cycle, The Elk County Community Fund awarded $18,000 to three local organizations for projects that preserve our history, improve accessibility, and enhance community resources.

The Historical Society of St. Marys & Benzinger Township received $6,000 toward the purchase of a ViewScan 5. This technology will assist the Historical Society in its continued work to preserve local history and make historical records and resources more accessible to our community. American Legion Post 103 was awarded $5,500 for repairs to its public-access handicap ramp. The improvements will help ensure the facility remains accessible to our community for public events and will also support the Legion’s Burial Detail as it continues its important service to local veterans and their families.

The St. Marys Sportsmen’s Club received $6,500 for security and technology enhancements. The improvements will support the organization as it continues providing programs, activities and opportunities for our community.

“These organizations are great examples of the work happening throughout Elk County every day,” said Tiffany Boschert, Executive Director of the Elk County Community Foundation. “So much of what makes our community special comes from local organizations and the people behind them who give their time and energy to serve others. The Elk County Community Fund gives us an opportunity to support that work and help make important local projects possible.

The Elk County Community Fund has been awarding grants to enhance projects and programs in our community since the Elk County Community Foundation’s first granting year 25 years ago. The fund supports community development initiatives that enhance the economic and community well-being of Elk County. Grants can be used to meet special project or program needs of organizations serving the people of the county.

The Elk County Community Fund is made possible through charitable gifts from individuals who believe in supporting Elk County. Donations of any size can be made to The Elk County Community Fund, helping build a permanent source of funding that can continue responding to the needs and opportunities of our community for years to come.

The Elk County Community Fund holds two competitive grant cycles each year, with application deadlines of January 15 and July 15.
