Portville, NY – November 3, 2025 – Portville and surrounding area residents are invited to embrace their inner elf when the Portville Central School Drama Club presents its holiday production of Elf The Musical JR. Featuring 65 talented students in grades 6–12, the show opens on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., with a second performance on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Portville Central School Auditorium, 500 Elm Street, Portville, NY. A Santa Breakfast is part of the festivities Saturday morning, December 6th from 8:30 – 11:00 am. For more information about the breakfast, contact the elementary school office.

“Elf The Musical JR. is an uplifting story about one boy’s quest to find his true identity,” says director Cheri Maxson. “The show encourages each of us to approach every day with goodwill, wonder, and cheer. From the very first rehearsal, the Drama Club students have worked together as a team to create a magical experience our entire community can enjoy.”

Based on the beloved 2003 New Line Cinema hit film, Elf The Musical JR. features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar (The Wedding Singer) and Chad Beguelin (Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway, The Wedding Singer), with a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone).

The musical tells the story of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. Raised by elves, Buddy grows up unaware that he is actually human until his size and toy-making troubles reveal the truth. With Santa’s blessing, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Along the way, he spreads Christmas cheer, rekindles the holiday spirit, and reminds everyone of the true meaning of the season.
