Penn College Athletics at a Glance

Last week in review: The men’s and women’s soccer teams won both of their matches, with the women now assured of their fourth straight playoff appearance and their ninth postseason trip in the NCAA era (since 2014), while the men’s golf and women’s volleyball teams also saw action, and a women’s tennis player earned a United East Conference honor.
MEN’S SOCCER
Last week’s hometown highlights: Logan Pietrzak, of Philadelphia, scored three goals to lead the Wildcats in Saturday’s victory at Gallaudet University. Justin Crismale, of Glen Gardner, New Jersey, and Sean Creegan, of Hellertown, split time in the goal, with Creegan making one save and getting the win.

Last week’s hometown highlights: Gunner Redmond, of Lock Haven, tied for eighth in a field of 68 with a 153 and the team finished seventh among 13 in the Battle at Bulle Rock on Tuesday and Wednesday. Also, Chase Dillman, of Boyertown, shot 157 and tied for 22nd, Brady Handy, of Huntingdon, shot 163 and tied for 42nd, and Logan Gawlinski, of Kittanning, shot 164 and tied for 45th.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Last week’s hometown highlights: Among the leaders in Tuesday’s loss at Penn State Abington were Lilly Stockum, of Dauphin, with 13 kills, and Ellen Banfill, of Mill Hall, with 20 assists. In Saturday’s loss at Notre Dame (Md.), Stockum had 11 kills, Banfill had 15 assists, Nashalie Vializ, of New Holland, had 12 digs and Haylie Thomsen, of High Bridge, New Jersey, had 10 digs.

Last week’s hometown highlights: Leah Vest, of Muncy, was honored as the United East Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for Oct. 6-12 after she won twice at No. 4 singles — at Kean and Susquehanna — and went 1-1 at No. 2 doubles.
