Cameron County Brownfields Coalition Assessment Project

Cameron County, in partnership with North Central Regional Planning and Development Commission, the Northern Tier Community Action Corporation, and Emporium Borough, has received funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfields Program to assist with the reuse of previously used properties in Cameron, Clearfield, and Potter Counties. The funding is being used to identify and prioritize sites, conduct environmental site assessments and create site reuse plans for priority sites. Cameron County has engaged a consultant team, led by Montrose Environmental, to implement the project.
A market study is under way, which will inform project priorities and help to identify reuse opportunities throughout the three-county study area. The Project aims to inform and engage with communities in the region transparently and equitably. Cameron County and project partners invite community members and stakeholders to learn about the project and share your perspective.
August 20 marks the beginning of a two-month public notice and comment period that will extend through October 20, 2025. During this time, project information is available on the web and in physical information repositories located at each county library. Additionally, members of the consultant team will be representing the project and providing in-person engagement opportunities.
