Ceres Twp. Clean-Up Days Will Be September 11,12,13th, Thurs, Friday, Saturday
The September 2, 2025 meeting of Township Supervisors was called to order at 6:00 p.m. with 3 Supervisors, 6 Residents, and secretary in attendance.
Business: 1998 Massey Ferguson 281 Tractor with 50” Boom mower that can be seen at the Ceres Township location has been advertised for bid with bids to be opened at the October 7, 2025 meeting. Paradise Energy was sent a request for removal of a row of solar panels prior to a permit being issued. A few residents continue to voice opposition to the solar field. The Bell Run Solar Field permit continues to be undetermined. Letter was sent regarding lumber along Powerhouse road. Three Township representatives plan to attend the Fall Conference of Township Officials on October 2, 2025. Resolution supporting the PA commission for US Semiquincentennial (America250PA) which is to inspire future leaders and celebrate all Pennsylvanian’s contributions to the nation over the last 250 years.
Motion was passed to Donate $600.00 to the Oswayo Memorial Library for 2025. Supervisors voted to send letter of support for the grant submission for Route 6 Façade Improvement Program which will go for building façade restoration projects, such as signage, awning replacement, exterior painting. Awards will be up to $5,000 per property with 1:1 private match. A second round of mowing along certain township roads was presented as well as need for part-time help, if decided mowing is necessary. The issue will be readdressed at the October 7th meeting. The State Liquid Fuels audit for 2019 through 2023 is being performed. Building, Demolition, and Sluice Permits were approved for Steve Plants and a building permit for AJ Plants was approved. Blower rental period is closing and decision to purchase the blower will need to be made. This issue will be addressed at the October 7th meeting.
Roadmaster’s Report: All major black topping projects and Tarring & Chipping projects for 2025 have been completed. Berms on Barden Brook are completed and grant money submission has been completed. A portion of Kings Run has been graded.
Resident comments: Four residents voiced they do not understand why the Township will not take the risk of being presented with a legal case vs. land development near their property/relatives’ property. Stated the Township should be able to find money somewhere to pay legal fees.
The bills for the month of August were reviewed, approved, and signed.
The next meeting of the Ceres Township Supervisor’s will be held on October 7th at 6:00 p.m. at the Township Building, 12 Barbertown Road, Eldred, Pa. Bids for 1998 Massey Ferguson tractor will be opened at this meeting.
