Bernadine Jacobs of White Lake MI, Formerly of Covington, PA

Bernadine Jacobs passed away peacefully November 23, 2024, at the Neighborhoods of White Lake nursing home, in White Lake MI. She was 96 years old.
She was married to Frank C. Jacobs up until his passing in 1985, and is survived by her six children: Robert, Frank, David, James, Nancy, and Faye. Bernadine also had 15 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren.
Bernadine was born August 3, 1928, in Covington, PA to Ila and Howard Steele, and grew up in Wellsboro, PA. She had two brothers: Robert and Gary. During high school, her family moved to Charleroi, PA, where she met her future husband, Frank. They married in 1950 and started their family. They moved from Charleroi to Mt. Laurel, NJ, where Bernadine focused on raising her children. In 1979, they moved to Palatine, IL. In 1984, she cared for her husband Frank during his illness, until his passing in 1985.
In 1986, she moved to Wellsboro and lived with, and cared for, her parents until their passing in 1992 and 1994. Bernadine continued to live in Wellsboro until 2010, when she moved to her daughter and son-in-law’s, Nancy and Terry Minton’s home in Michigan. Where they provided a home and eventually cared for her through her passing.
Bernadine was a Christian and attended Episcopal church in all the locations where she lived. She devoted much of her life to caring for others, and she understood and appreciated the importance of family. Hers was a “life well lived.”
Her memorial service will be April 4, 2025, at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, PA. We will receive friends and family starting at 10:00 AM, and the service will begin at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at the Wellsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
