Two predator hunting teams, Team Holjencin-Borden and Team “Big Dog” were successful over last weekend at Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide, 3-Weekend, Coyote and Fox Hunt or Trap.
Team Holjencin-Borden connected with a 33.6# male coyote on Friday at 11:10 p.m. on public lands in Elk County. Adam Borden, half of the Team Holjencin-Borden, was using a Fox Pro electronic call and harvested the coyote with a 6.5 mm Grendel rifle. Team Holjencin-Borden were hunting public lands in Elk County.
Team “Big Dog” composed of Rich Hoffman, Nate Hoffman, and Bo Brehm, had the good fortune to connect with a beautiful pure black coyote on Sunday at 3:00 a.m. The black coyote weighed in at 32.6#. Earlier in the weekend, Team Big Dog connected with a pair of coyotes at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday. Nate successfully harvested a 39.4# male coyote and Rich harvested a 31.8# female coyote simultaneously at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Team “Big Dog” was hunting on private lands in Elk County and were using both a Fox Pro electronic call and mouth calls. For the first weekend of this event, the 39.4# coyote is the largest and wins the extra payout.
Hunters are reminded that if they choose to participate during the second or third weekend of this three-weekend hunt or trap, they must have their registration postmarked by Thursday, 2/13 or Thursday, 2/20.
Weigh-in is at 4:00 p.m. every day. Categories include coyote, fox, largest female coyote, and largest female fox. Additional information at the Facebook Page, Rolfe Beagle Club.
