James A. Rickard, Jr., 73, of Dewey Circle, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born on August 12, 1951, in Ridgway, the son of the late James A. Rickard, Sr., and Shirley Wilson McCoy.
On October 4, 2019, he married Wendy Shefcyk, who survives.
Jim spent an impressive 47 years as a lineman for West Penn Powers, showing a work ethic that truly set him apart. After retiring, his love for the job called him back, and he worked another five years as a contractor for the same company. Jim wasn’t just about work; he deeply enjoyed his time on the dairy farm and logging. His hands were always busy, and he took great pride in everything he did.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James Rickard III and his wife Karri of Cranberry, a daughter, Trisha Beeler and her husband Ron of Ridgway, 7 grandchildren; Joseph (Hannah), Cait, James IIII, Justin, Claire, Kyle (Beth), and Hunter, and 3 great grandchildren; Kara, Mason, and Lilly. He is also survived by 2 stepsons, Melvin (Jena) Shelander of Kersey and Aric (Courtney) Shelander of St. Marys, 2 step great grandchildren, Melvin Jr. and Dennis, and a sister Marsha.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Rickard.
Funeral Services for James A. Rickard will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Bible Training Center, 657 Evergreen Drive, Ridgway, PA 15853, with Pastor Ron Burkett officiating.
Visitation will be on Saturday at the Bible Training center from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
Burial will follow at Oakmont Cemetery.
