Mary E. Himes, 103, of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of Boot Jack Rd., Ridgway, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

She was born on June 18, 1921, in Hallton, a daughter of the late Harry M. and Ruby E. Simmerline Lindsey.

On August 31, 1939, She married the late William Wade Himes Sr., who preceded her in death on March 28, 2002. Together they shared over 62 years of love and marriage.

Mary was a 1939 graduate of Portland Mills High School. She was employed as a nurse for many years and also worked as a teacher’s aide for IU9. After retirement Mary managed the Rustic Acres Campground in Shippenville with her husband. Mary was a faithful member of Awakening Alliance Church where she made many friends over the years. She was a past Secretary and Treasurer of the Ridgway Senior Center. Mary enjoyed sewing and knitting as well as making crafts, including her own greeting cards. She also had a love for music, which she expressed by playing the organ in her free time.

Mary is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son; Harry Himes, 2 sons in infancy; William Wade Himes Jr. and Larry Himes, by 2 brothers; Harry Lindsey Jr. and Clyde Lindsey, by 2 brothers in infancy; John Lindsey and Wendel Lindsey, and by 2 sisters; Frances Huskins and Margaret Himes.

Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A funeral service for Mary E. Himes will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 12:30 PM, at Awakening Alliance Church, 16915 Boot Jack Road, Ridgway, PA 15853

Burial will take place at Donahey Hill Cemetery.
