Donald A. Schreiber, 84, of 435 Mark Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Monday, January 20, 2025 at his residence.
He was born July 31, 1940 in St. Marys, son of the late John and Winifred Bauer Schreiber. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1958, and Gannon University, Class of 1964. He retired from the Carbon Graphite Group in 1999 with 33 years of service.
On June 3, 1967, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Don married Jean O. Hoffman, who survives. They were blessed to share fifty-seven years of marriage.
In addition to his loving wife, Don is survived by two sons: Robert Schreiber (Betsy) of St. Marys and Eric Schreiber (Elisha) of Mercer, PA; four grandsons: Alex (Andrea), Timothy (Megan), Thaddeus, and Silas; two great-grandchildren: Ellie Jean and Cora; two sisters: Mary Lee Engel (Tom) of St. Marys and Laura Kilmer (Galen) of DuBois; three brothers: John “Peeps” Schreiber (Judy), Steve Schreiber (Judy), and Bill Schreiber, all of St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a son who died shortly after his birth; a sister, Lois Thorwart (and her husband Danny Thorwart); and a sister in-law Denise Schreiber.
Don was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church where he was a faithful parishioner and assisted at the bereavement luncheons. Don had a passion for photography, enjoyed fly fishing and tying his own flies. He was an avid reader. He also enjoyed studying his family’s genealogy, crossword puzzles, and collecting coins. Nothing brought Don more joy than sharing his hobbies with his family and spending time with them.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Marys Catholic Church on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11:00AM with Rev. Thomas Curry, O.S.B., celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 9:00AM until 10:30AM.
