Richard R. Steadman “Loving Father, Grandfather & Brother”
Richard R. Steadman of Portville Olean Road passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, following an illness.
Richard was born on July 18, 1949, in Buffalo and was the son of Frederick R. and Elizabeth L. Robinson Steadman. He was formerly married to Nancy Marton. On June 14, 1993, at the Good News Chapel in Lewiston, Maine he married Linda A. MacDonald, who predeceased him on May 8, 2019.
Richard grew up in Belfast and attended Belfast Central Schools. He worked for Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine as a first-class mechanic ship fitter for 8 years. Then he went to work at the Brunswick Golf Course as the Head Mechanic for 12 years until he became disabled due to a stroke. In April of 2016 he moved to the Olean Area. Richard Enjoyed working as a mechanic, “tinkering” in his shop, and mowing his lawn.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard R. (Amy) Steadman Jr. of Friendship, a daughter Amy L. Miller of Portville, 3 stepchildren, Peggy S. Crippen of New Port, Ray E. Thomas of Phippsburg, Randy E. Thomas-Garcia, of Lincoln, 32 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 siblings, Shirley (Larry) Riehle of Friendship, Barbara Meyers of Lisbon, ME., Carol (Eric) Schutt of Lisbon, ME., and Robert (Aurora) Steadman Evansville, IN., several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Frederick (Tosha) Childs of Wellsville, and a very close friend and neighbor Kevin C. Rasey who helped him out a lot.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, a stepdaughter, Tina M. Thomas in 2023, a son in law, Joseph Miller in 2022, a sister Peggy Helfin in 2021, a sister Gloria Seaman in 2023, and a brother-in-law Dennis Meyers in 2022.
