Anthony P. Magnetti, 81, formerly of Gates Hollow
Anthony P. Magnetti, 81, formerly of Gates Hollow passed away Wednesday November 20, 2024 at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born December 2, 1942 in Berkley, CA he was a son of the late Anthony L. Magnetti and Helen (Allen) Fairbanks.
Tony was a 1961 graduate of Bradford High School and later graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford with a bachelor’s degree in public relations.
On January 9, 1961 Tony enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served until his honorable discharge on January 8, 1965.
Tony worked at Corning Glass Works, as an auto mechanic at Bell Telephone and Star Garage and at the Oil Production Department at Bradford High School. He was an accomplished taxidermist who worked out of his home. He retired to Florida and worked as a Sales Associate at Home Depot and a handyman in his community
Tony was a member of St. Bernard Church, the American Legion of Bradford and Bradford Vets Club. He was also a member and past President of the American Wild Turkey Society. He coached midget league, JV and varsity football and many additional sports including all those his children participated in.
Tony enjoyed exercising, reading, music, karaoke, hunting, fishing and archery. For many years he and his Shades of Satin bandmates played at local venues and weddings. Above all he loved being with his family.
Surviving are six children, Christine M. (Brian Soule) Magnetti, Kathleen E. (Dustin) Laurie, Toni Ann (William O’Brien) Magnetti, Gwen M. (Mike) Jeffrey, Mark A. (Jody) Magnetti and Michael A. (Shannon) Magnetti. Also surviving are their mother Anita Magnetti, 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Jared (Katy), Tyler, Taylor, Joli, Andrew, Julia, Michael, Luke, Nicholas and Anita, three great-grandchildren Alexa, Tempi and Miguel, one sister, Karen Riley and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Paul Fairbanks and four brothers Raymond Magnetti, Lawrence Magnetti, William Fairbanks and Peter Magnetti.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Avenue. Family and friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in St. Francis Church with Rev. John Jacquel as Celebrant. Entombment and military honors will be accorded in St. Bernard Mausoleum with the United States Air Force and Bradford Legion Post 108 honor guards.
