Joanne M. Monroe, age 66, of Westfield, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport. Born August 3, 1958 in Blossburg, she was the daughter of the late Maynard and Frances (VanSkiver) Gunn.

She married Alexander H. Monroe, who passed away at the age of 22 in 1984. Joanne’s children and grandkids were her life. She loved all things outdoors; camping, going to the Asaph or Hills Creek State Park, music around the bonfires and rides around the hill looking for deer. Joanne enjoyed talking and gossiping with her friends.

She is survived by her children, Amanda Vinluan and Nathan and Becky Monroe of Westfield; grandsons, Colton and Skyler Vinluan and Alex, Ephraim, Noah and Liam Monroe; two great granddaughters, Everly Lyn and Lilly Jo; brother, Frank “Butch” and Lesly Gunn of Westfield; sister, Nancy Spicer of Westfield and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex; sister, Doris (Dave) Schoonover; nephew, Davie Schoonover; her best friend, Sherry Monroe and brother in law, Bill Spicer.

A Celebration of Joanne’s Life will be held at the Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St., Westfield on Saturday, November 23rd from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the funeral home to help the family with expenses.
