Kenneth Clark Boal
Kenneth Clark Boal, known affectionately as Ken, passed away on October 10, 2024, in Mechanicsburg, at the age of 91. Born on December 5, 1932, in Clearfield, Ken was a man of strong character and dedication, evident in every aspect of his life, from his family to his career.
After completing his high school education at Clearfield High School, Ken proudly served in the military as part of the Army’s 10th Infantry and 37th Infantry Divisions, where he demonstrated his commitment and resilience.
A lifelong learner, he was the first in his family to attend college, graduating from Penn State University with a degree in accounting following his military service. Ken then embarked on a notable career starting with a public accounting firm in New York City and culminating with North Penn Gas Company in Port Allegany, where he worked for nearly 24 years, retiring in 1992 as Vice President, Officer and Director of both North Penn Gas Company and its parent company Penn Fuel Gas Inc. based in Oxford.
His commitment to community was demonstrated through his active involvement with the Rotary Club in Port Allegany, and his service on the Board of Directors of the Port Allegany Community Hospital. Ken also dedicated time to supporting his children’s various recreational organizations, showing his deep devotion to family and community.
Ken was immensely proud of his grandchildren and got great joy from the birth of his first great-grandchild in 2023.
An avid reader, his personal life was further enriched by his hobbies, which included hunting, fishing, and hiking, activities that reflected his love for the outdoors, especially the great times spent with family and friends at the Potter Game Club.
Ken is survived by his sister, Barbara Morris; daughters, Kathy Powden and her husband, Buck, Karen McCurdy and her husband, Rob; son, Greg Boal and his wife, Jodi; six grandchildren, Nick Powden (wife Meghan), Colton Powden (fiancée Jenny), Kaitlyn McCurdy, Mallory McCurdy, Logan Boal (wife Elizabeth), and Ashton Boal; and one great-grandchild, Oaklyn Powden.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Boal; his parents, Clark and Sarah Boal; and his siblings, Harold Boal, Yvonne Schalk, and Wanda Wolfe.
Private services for the family will be held to honor Ken’s life.

Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home in Harrisburg, is assisting the family during this time.

Ken’s life was a testament to his strong work ethic, dedication to his family, and his significant contributions to his community. His legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
