Lorna Ruth Elmore “Loving Mother, Grandmother & Sister”
Lorna R. Elmore of 615 Irving Street, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Lorna was born January 13, 1930 in Niagara Falls and was the daughter of Robert W. and Lois J. Barnes Easley. On November 27, 1954 in Olean she married Herbert Elmore who predeceased her on July 30, 1994.
Lorna was a 1947 graduate of Olean High School and attended Bradford School of Radiology. She worked as an X-Ray technician at both Olean General Hospital and Roswell for about 6 years. Lorna then went to work for a number of places including, Olean Tile Plant, Lime Material (Cooper), and New York Telephone for 11 years retiring in 1981. She later went to work at UPS after her retirement for about 3 years.
Lorna enjoyed reading, puzzles and volunteered for 25 years at the Olean Housing Authority where she served as President for 2 terms. She was a member of the Local Chapter of the American Cancer Society for 17 years where she served as President for 1 term. Lorna was formerly a member for 15 years of the Internation Society of Links Inc. and was one of the founding members of the Cattaraugus County and Chautauqua County Chapter.
Lorna is survived by; 2 sons, John V. Elmore of Williamsville and Robert V. Elmore of Olean; 3 grandchildren, Dr. Sonia (Rocky) Ephriam of South Barrington, IL, Justin Elmore of Daytona Beach, FL and Attorney Kristen (Rafiel) Elmore-Garcia of Williamsville; 3 great grandchildren, Serna Ruth Garcia, Lail Ephraim and Lennox Ephraim; 3 siblings, William (Marsha) Easley of Ithaca, Carol Mitchel of Newport News, VA and Madelyn Scott of Amherst.
Along with her loving husband Herbert, Lorna was predeceased by; her parents; a daughter, Ruth V. Elmore on August 29, 2023; a daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Elmore on December 30, 1998; 3 sisters, Lois Spiller, Dawn Wright and Charlotte Easley.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., On Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at which time a memorial service will be held.
