Mary Ann Schlimm, 90, of Chestnut Street, St. Marys
Mary Ann Schlimm, 90, of Chestnut Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
She was born on July 24, 1934 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Feldbauer Hupfer.
On May 4, 1957, in Queen of the World Church, she married the late Paul G. Schlimm, who preceded her in death on March 20, 1997. Together they were blessed with nearly 40 years of marriage.
Mary Ann was a lifelong member of Queen of the World Church. She attended beauty school in Williamsport, PA, and was proud to have earned her beautician’s license. She was a longtime member of the Women of the Moose and the American Legion Auxiliary. Always delighting in caring for her family, Mary Ann could often be found cooking and baking. She crocheted many beautiful items, and could mend just about anything with her sewing skills. When she wasn’t volunteering her time at the local Catholic school cafeterias, she enjoyed spending time in her garden, tending to her vegetables. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by three daughters; Shirley Schwabenbauer, Sue Schlimm, and Christine, Mrs. Frank “Buck” Haberberger, all of St. Marys and by one son; Percy Schlimm of Washington; by three grandchildren; Stephanie (James) Siford, Adam Schwabenbauer, and Kyle Schwabenbauer, and by three great-grandchildren; Sophie, Bridger, and Elsie Mae. She is also survived by one sister; Edna (Edward) Plank of North Carolina, a son-in-law; Paul Hamby of St. Marys, and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her daughter; Paula Hamby in 2019, by two brothers; Richard Hupfer, Sr., and Robert Hupfer, and by a sister in infancy; Anita Hupfer.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann Schlimm will be celebrated on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation.
