Jay C. Meabon, 76, of 35 Edgewood Road, Bradford, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at his residence.
Born on July 7, 1948, in Bradford, he was the son of the late Geoffrey “Jack” J. and Shirley R. (Hallock) Meabon. He was a 1966 graduate from Bradford High School.
On January 2, 1968, Jay was drafted into the United States Army, where he served as an SP4 in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on December 18, 1969. After his service, Jay worked for Zippo, Corning Glass/Dale Electronics for 35 years, and Werzalit. Jay later worked for Case Cutlery, and the Seneca Allegany Casino.
Jay was a fun-loving man who treasured every chance to spend time with his family. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Buffalo Bills and enjoyed watching dirt track racing and NASCAR. He also proudly identified as Donald Trumpās ā#1 Supporter.ā
Jay is survived by his companion of over 40 years, Jo Anne (Starkweather) Bigley, two daughters, Jodi Meabon, of Bradford, Jacki (Matthew) Carinci, of Port Allegheny, and one son, Jace Meabon, of Bradford. Jay is also survived by his loving family members, brother, Jon (Dorie) Meabon, of Bradford, brother in-law, Carl (Bill) Clark, of Bradford, five grandchildren, Chelsea Brien, Gage (Amber) Brien, Nicholas Carinci, Carly Evers, and Tyler Carinci, two great-grandchildren Paisley Brien and Parker Brien, and several loved ones including Gary Bigley, Fayth Bigley, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jan Clark.
Funeral services will be held privately at the familyās convenience, officiated by Rev. Rick Nelson, Associate Pastor of the First United Methodist Church. This will be followed by military honors conducted by members of the United States Army and the Honor Guard from American Legion Post 108 of Bradford at Willow Dale Cemetery.
