James “Dick” R. Armstrong, 85, of Kane, PA
James “Dick” R. Armstrong, 85, of Kane, PA passed away Saturday evening, (December 24, 2022) at the Millcreek Community Hospital.
He was born on Dec. 4, 1937 in Brandy Camp, the son of the late Alvin and Dorothy Spare Armstrong. On Oct. 24, 1957, in Flaconer, N.Y., he married Sandra Nichols, who survives.
Mr. Armstrong was the plant manager at Kane Handle for many years. He also had worked as a station agent for Allegheny Airlines and in the tool room for Clarion Sintered Metals.
He had attended the First Baptist Church, was a member and past president of the Kane Rotary, was a member and chair for the Kane Community Hospital Board, a member of the Kane Chamber of Commerce, the Worshipful Master of the Kane Lodge #566 Free and Accepted Masons and the co-founder of the KAHS Alumni Memorial Award. He was passionate about helping others and volunteered many hours on behalf of the community.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lori Dupere, of Ocala, Fla. and one brother, Donald Armstrong of Erie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Charles Armstrong in infancy and Joseph Armstrong.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
