Darlene S. Sherry, 73, of Sinnamahoning, PA passed away following a brief illness with pancreatic cancer at Penn Highlands DuBois on Sunday (June 1, 2025) afternoon with her family by her side.
She was born April 3, 1952, in Sinnamahoning, PA a daughter of the late Alvy and Reva Fiscus Johnson.

Janet L. Kelley, 67, of Eldred, passed away Sunday (June 1, 2025) at Sena Kean Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Smethport.
She was born August 12, 1957 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Benjamin D. and Mary (Austin) Bickford.
Jan was a graduate of Smethport Area High School Class of 1975 and worked at several different jobs over the years. Her last occupation was at Northeastern Industrial in Bradford, PA.
She was a member of the Eldred American Legion and the Eldred Vets Club.

City of Bradford Police Department Press Release On May 30, 2025, the City of Bradford Police Department responded to a reported retail theft at Tops Market. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, identified Brandon Chase, and took him into custody. The investigation revealed that the individual, Brandon Chase, allegedly stole $27.92 worth of merchandise without paying. It was also discovered that Chase has prior charges pending for retail theft. Chase was arraigned by Magistrate Luther and bail was set at $2,500 unsecured. Preliminary hearings are scheduled in the matter.
All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. With the situation facing emergency medical services (EMS) becoming more dire every day, Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) has introduced legislation to create a Pennsylvania Office of EMS Commissioner.
“EMS agencies across the state are struggling to keep their doors open, yet there’s little urgency from the state’s chief executive to address the problems,” Causer said. “A timely EMS response is critical and can mean the difference between life and death for countless patients across the Commonwealth. We can and must do better.”

Mary L. Foster, 79, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 124 Lafayette Street, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
She was born March 8, 1946, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Clarence and Beatrice Guth Simbeck. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, Class of 1964.

Bridge Replacement Project Set to Begin Tomorrow in Orange Township, Columbia County
MONTOURSVILLE, PA – Motorists are advised that a bridge replacement project is set to begin tomorrow on Draketown Road (Route 1013) in Orange Township, Columbia County
Starting Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Draketown Road will be closed between Whitmire Road and Route 93, while a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) bridge crew begins work on the bridge over Stoney Brook. Work on the project includes removal the existing structure, installation of a box culvert, paving, line painting, and guide rail upgrade.
A detour using Route 93, Route 487, and Fowlersville Road (Route 1008) will be in place for the duration of the project.
Motorists should be alert, expect delays in travel, and drive with caution. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in October 2025, weather permitting.

Kathy D. McCulla, 71, of Emporium, PA passed away peacefully on Friday morning (May 30, 2025).Kathy (Louise) Dill McCulla was born on Father’s Day, June 21, 1953, to Robert and Thora (Wheeler) Dill of Sterling Run. In her childhood Kathy attended the two-room schoolhouse across the road from her house, before transitioning to the schools in Emporium. Kathy enjoyed growing up with her sister and brother in Sterling Run, and they have all spent years recounting fond and funny memories. Many remembered moments came from times traveling the country and visiting family, spending time with their aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Joan D. Armanini, 89, of 115 Fairview Road, Kersey and most recently 299 Ridgmont Drive, Ridgway, passed away peacefully Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.

The COTS (Concerts on the Town Square) Series will begin Thursday, June 5 at 6 pm. on the Port Allegany Town Square. The concerts, hosted by the Port Allegany Women’s Club, are free and open to the public.
The concerts will be held each Thursday with the exception of July 3. Refreshments are available for purchase and a 50/50 raffle will be held.
Money from the food sales will go to local groups and organizations and the proceeds from the raffles are donated to PACS. The June 5 concert will feature the music of country singer Chris Eckert (pictured).
The performing artist for June 12 will be Dan Roche.

Joan M. Holjencin, 88, of 251 Taft Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Monday, June 2, 2025, at her residence with her loving family by her side.
She was born August 28, 1936, in Rosebud, PA, daughter of the late Leo Cusick and Millie Lednik Cusick Myers. A vibrant soul with an infectious zest for life, Joan filled every moment with her radiant smile, joyful laughter, and profound faith. She lived a rich and fulfilling life, touching countless hearts with her warmth and devotion.On May 21, 1955, in St. Basil’s Catholic Church in Coalport, PA, Joan married the late Joseph J. Holjencin, who preceded her in death on January 22, 2016.

Daniel Martin Cukierski, 78, of Bradford, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
He was born on December 5, 1946 in Chicago, IL, a son of the late Martin and Regina Polinski Cukierski.
On December 27, 1980 in Bradford, he married Mary Zetts who survives. They spent many years in Chicago before moving to Bradford in 2016.
He was a US Army Vietnam War era veteran; serving in Korea where he earned the rank of Captain. He served from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1975.

On May 31st, 2025, at approximately 1957 hours, City of Bradford Police responded to a report of criminal trespass at 20 Main Street, Apartment G1.
Upon arrival, officers detained a male individual, identified as Marcus Mawn, who was accused of breaking into the residence. The female resident reported that Mawn had followed her home and forced his way into her apartment without permission, causing damage to a TV in the process.
Officers witnessed Mawn kicking a door in on the residence upon their arrival. As a result, Mawn was taken into custody and charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass, and Criminal Mischief.
Mawn was arraigned by Magistrate William Todd and remanded to McKean County Jail on $30,000 bail. Preliminary hearings are scheduled in the matter. The City of Bradford Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community.
