Harold L. Barber, 91, of Macedon, formerly of Bolivar, NY passed away Tuesday (Jan. 9, 2024).
Harold was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Cyclone, Pa., to Clinton and Frieda Work Barber.
Harold was a dependable man, known for his strong character. He was a faithful husband to his wife Winnie, who recently predeceased him.
After attending Olean High School, Harold proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1960. He was an airplane mechanic and enjoyed talking about the planes on which he worked for the rest of his life.
Following his military service, Harold worked hard at several jobs before embarking on a successful career at Dresser-Rand in Wellsville, where he worked for over 25 years. He was a skilled machinist and packer carpenter for turbines.
Harold had a passion for woodworking and was known for his skill in making wood furniture. He also enjoyed putting together and framing puzzles, as well as taking long walks to stay active. These hobbies brought him joy and fulfillment throughout his retirement years.

On January 11th, 2024 at approximately 1:16 PM, Cuba Police arrested Estefan M. Sabastros (29) of Rochester, NY. Sabastros was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the City of Olean for Burglary 3rd and criminal possession of stolen property 4th. Sabastros was processed and turned over to the Olean Police Department. Sabastros is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
At 8:30 PM on Friday, Roulette Ambulance has been called to Fishing Creek Road Extension for a fall victim.
Rt. 6 to Smethport is shut down from Port Allegany
On January 12 at 7:01 pm, Shinglehouse Fire and Ambulance were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident on 1002 Rt. 44. Vehicle is on its side with unknown injuries.
Travel conditions are nearly impossible!! Vehicles are stuck on most of the hills. Trees and wires are down in many places. Travel tonight on area highways is life-threatening.

Socrates “Sam” Tsepelis, III, 54, of South Avenue, Custer City, PA passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in Bradford.
Born December 15, 1969, in Bradford, he was the only son to the late Socrates and Patricia (Mesler) Tsepelis, Jr. He was a 1988 graduate of Bradford High School.

David W. Randall Sr., 74, of Gross Road, Cuba, NY passed away on January 11, 2024, at Olean General Hospital from natural causes, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
David was born on April 21, 1948, in Olean, and was the son of Walter Jewitt and Katherine McCall Randall. On December 14, 1968, he married Brenda Bish Randall who predeceased him on June 26, 2008. On November 11, 2012, David married Jodi Lynn Neal Garrison, who survives.
David served in the US Air Force from 1967 to 1989. After which he worked numerous jobs including the United States Post Office in Cuba, AT&T, BOCES as a night Tech Teacher, the Olean Times Herald, Pristol Life, Potter Lumber, and Crown Y-Cuba. David was also a member of the Sandy Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Norton Chambers American Legion Post 1434 in Hinsdale, and the Allegany County Vietnam Veterans Organization of Alma and attended North Park Wesleyan Church of Cuba.

Mark L. Dexter, 65, of County Road 18, Alma, NY passed away at home on Thursday, January 11, 2024, following an illness surrounded by his loving family.
Mark was born on September 14, 1957, in Jamestown and was the son of Theodore and Martha Fischer Dexter. On November 1, 1980, in Alma, he married his loving wife, Brenda J. Heap, who survives.
Mark worked as a dairy farmer in Randolph. He won many awards as a showman in the New York State Fair in Syracuse. He then worked for a number of factories before going to work for the Portville Forest Products and then PA Pellet Company where he retired from in 2013. Mark enjoyed camping and watching football.
Beside his loving wife Brenda, Mark is survived by his children: Tracy (Jeremy) Barney of Shinglehouse, Patrick Maine of Roulette, PA., Ryan (Nikki) Dexter of Alma, Shannon (Zachary) VanKeuren of Hopkinsville, Miyan Dexter and Syrena Nielson both of Bennington, VT., a daughter in law, Teresa Dexter of Austin, PA, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings: Louise (Kevin) Duntly of South Dayton, Chauncey (Barb) Dexter of Salamaca, Timmy (Sheila) Dexter and Amanda (Bill) Purdy both of Randolph, and Michelle Dexter of Gowanda.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:00am at which time Rev. Tim R. Audrey Ann Deegan, 88, of Allegany, formerly of Smethport, PA passed away Thursday (January 11, 2024) at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
She was born July 9, 1935 in Erie, the daughter of Bernard Bargielski and Jean Brzezicki. On August 30, 1958, in St. Casmir’s Catholic Church, Erie, PA, she married Raymond Edward Deegan, who died December 29, 2018.
Audrey was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy of Erie, PA. She attended Pittsburgh’s Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her registered nurse certification.
She was a registered nurse at Sena Kean Manor in Smethport for many years.

Shirley was 1957 graduate of Kane High School. She was the secretary for Hamlin Township for 45 years before retiring.
Shirley was a life member of the Hamlin Twp. Fire Department and was a huge NASCAR fan. She loved playing Bingo and traveling to the Casino. She was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

Duane E. Wallace, of Cuba and formerly of Friendship, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Cuba Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit after a brief illness.
Born on April 23, 1951, in Wellsville, he was the son of Lew and Leona Kuhn Wallace. On April 24, 1996, in Cuba, he married Vicki D. Winchell and they shared 28 years of marriage.
Duane was a graduate of Friendship High School class of 1969 and started driving a truck for Olean Wholesale Grocery CO-OP in July 1979 until he retired in July 2018. After retirement, he couldn’t sit still and went back to work at the Valero car wash in Cuba NY to keep himself busy.
Duane loved driving the “Big Truck” and talking to the people he met on his route or at the warehouse. He spent his free time buying cars at the auction with friends, fishing with family, watching the Winston Cup races, and traveling to Martinsville Speedway, Coca-Cola 600, Watkins Glen, and Dover. He was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan, loved his family, and ensured the little ones paid attention or got the “boot”.
