Freida M. (Stone) Goodyear: Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister
Freida M. Goodyear, 79, of 7250 Kossuth Road, Bolivar, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 after a lengthy illness.
Born on August 16, 1945, in Little Genesee, she was a daughter of C. Fred and Margaret L. Windsor Stone. On June 27, 1964, in Eldred, she married William Goodyear who predeceased her November 12, 2021.
She was a graduate of Bolivar Central School Class of 1963 and was proud to be a Bulldog. She then went to work as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone, Bolivar Office, for several years.
At one time she owned and operated the Kozy Kitchen and the This and That Shop with her husband. She then worked for Al & Pete Glintz in their store from 1986-1995. She was a housekeeper numerous families in the Bolivar Area and had also worked at the Bolivar Shop and Save, but retired in 2013 to spend more time with her husband.
Always wanting to help others Freida served her community as a life member of the Bolivar Fire Department where she served as secretary for 14 years and also was on the Ambulance Squad. She later joined the Richburg Fire Department and was also a member of the Followers of the Way Church in Nile, and donated time at the Little Genesee Church Food Pantry and Bolivar Food Pantry
She was extremely appreciative of her family and friends that she met throughout her life and she wanted everyone to know how much they meant to her, her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.

On Sunday, December 15th, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, the Deane Center lobby will be transformed into a winter wonderland for Howlin’ Holidays, a special holiday photo shoot and donation drive to benefit the Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries. Snow squalls, blowing and drifting snow expected, vehicle restrictions planned during storm
Harrisburg, PA –Ahead of anticipated winter weather across much of Pennsylvania tomorrow, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising motorists to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm and to exercise caution when driving. Additionally, PennDOT will implement various speed and vehicle restrictions throughout the storm.

Rita L. Stanford, 71, of Kane, formerly of Lewis Run, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at her home.
She was born on May 30, 1953 in Grand Rapids, MI, a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Travers Gredzicki.

Crash Closes Interstate 80 WB in Clinton, Union and Northumberland Counties
Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that both lanes of Interstate 80 westbound are closed between mile marker 212 (Interstate 180 interchange / Williamsport) in Northumberland County and mile marker 178 (Route 220 interchange) in Clinton County, due to a multi-vehicle crash in Clinton County near mile marker 190.

For Wellsboro’s Dickens of a Christmas celebration, streets will be closed to traffic and parking this Saturday, Dec. 7. Offered is free parking with free shuttle service into and out of Wellsboro.
Free Shuttle Services
There will be free shuttle services to downtown Dickens festivities. Buses will operate continuously between 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. to shuttle visitors to downtown Wellsboro from the Wellsboro Plaza parking lot on Route 6 (East Avenue) and from the Wellsboro High School parking lot on Nichols Street. During those times, shuttles will also transport visitors back to the Wellsboro Plaza and Wellsboro High School parking lots.
Otto-Eldred School District will start the day on Thursday (12/05/24) under a 2-hour delay.
We will be watching the weather closely overnight to determine if a cancellation is necessary.
Any further announcement will be made by 8:45 tomorrow morning.
Vivian “Jeannine” (Parks) Schreiber, 92, a resident of Christ the King Manor, DuBois and formerly of 185 Center Street, Elk Towers, St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Christ the King Manor after a brief illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home.

The 40th Annual Dickens of a Christmas is this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6, 7 and 8 in Wellsboro.
Friday and Saturday, the Tioga County Active Living Center’s Indoor Craft Show/Food with five craft vendors and the United Methodist Church’s Indoor Craft Show with 26 craft vendors will be open.
The Tioga County Active Living Center will also have lots of food Halushki with noodles and cabbage; soups; hot dogs, Texas hots and beverages both days. A homemade breakfast casserole will be available for purchase Saturday morning beginning at 8am.
Hamilton-Gibson Productions will present A Dickens of a Concert Friday night at 7:30pm and six performances of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” at the Deane Center’s two theaters on Saturday and one performance on Sunday.
Smethport Area School District will be operating under a 2 hour delay tomorrow due to expected weather conditions.
Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), Kaleida Health facilities, brought some holiday cheer to the patients who could not be home with their families for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Patients at BRMC, OGH as well as residents at the Pavilion, were offered a festive holiday meal. In addition, patients also received a complimentary meal for an invited guest to dine with them on Thanksgiving Day.
“This time of year, is always so special, and I am grateful to be involved in the meal program for our patients. Bringing joy and enhancing our patients’ overall experience is a top priority for us,” said Robert Holzer, interim general manager, food and nutrition services. “Being away from loved ones during the holidays can be difficult. We hope this small gesture helps make our patients’ Thanksgiving a little brighter.”
The Thanksgiving meal consisted of roast turkey with gravy, homestyle mashed potatoes, herb seasoned stuffing, garlic roasted vegetables, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and any further dietary requirements needed for each patient.
Thomas E. Wilson “beloved husband”
Thomas E. “Tom” Wilson, 77, a lifelong resident of Hebron, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Born on Wednesday, August 13, 1947 in Coudersport, he was a son of James E. and Delores V. Gilbert Wilson. On April 19, 1965 in Olean, NY, he married Ruth L. Hanley, who survives.
Tom was a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1965. After graduating he worked with his father in the family business.
Tom was a member of Eulalia Lodge #342 F&AM, Coudersport and was a member of the Coudersport Consistory. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing softball and baseball. He very much enjoyed his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. His greatest loves were his wife, his family, and animals of all kinds.
Today, the Shapiro Administration announced a new selection of military-themed license plates are available. Recently passed legislation allows the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to offer Pennsylvanians six new license plates honoring military veterans.
“These plates are yet another opportunity to show our appreciation for the sacrifices of our military members and their families,” said PennDOT Deputy Secretary for Driver and Vehicle Services Kara Templeton. “As always, we are proud to recognize our military community and their accomplishments.”
Three of the new plates recognize service members who received medals or honors for individual achievements or deployments. The plates are the standard license plate colors of white, blue, and gold and bear a graphic of the medal awarded. For a fee of $26, the plates are available for use on passenger cars or trucks with a registered gross weight of not more than 14,000 pounds.
