OLEAN, N.Y., October 3 – The Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation is pleased to announce the formal launch of the Cattaraugus Nonprofit Hub, a countywide initiative designed to increase collaboration and enhance the capacity and impact of civic organizations throughout Cattaraugus County.

Supported by key partners, including the Dr. Lyle F. Renodin Foundation and the United Way of Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, the Hub will provide a vital space for nonprofits and government agencies to come together to share resources, collaborate and strengthen the local nonprofit ecosystem.

A nearly two-year investigation by the Pennsylvania Game Commission has led to the filing of 71 charges against three Chester County residents – a father and his two adult sons – who are accused of poaching dozens upon dozens of trophy bucks in Chester and Delaware counties.

            BRADFORD, PA – Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC), a Kaleida Health facility, will be hosting open interviews on Thursday, October 17 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will take place in the main lobby and provide community members with career opportunities to support comprehensive health care close to home.

Cyerra attends the CTC in the Health Assistance program.  Cyerra is a sophomore at Port Allegany High School who has been on high honor roll each year. Her positive attitude and true excitement to learn about the medical field are evident each day as she comes to class prepared and eager to participate in lessons and laboratory work.

She is a positive influence on others and is always willing to assist others. In September, Cyerra obtained her OSHA 10 Certification. Cyerra works as a manager to the Port Allegany wrestling team in her spare time. In the future, she plans to attend college for radiology.

OLEAN, NY (Oct. 9, 2024) – A $25,000 grant to the Olean Food Pantry from an anonymous local family foundation is a challenge for more community donations.

Olean Food Pantry received the grant Friday toward its $1 Million Fundraising Campaign announced earlier this year. The grant urges additional funding from the community entering the holiday giving season, OFP officials said.

“This grant is a major step toward addressing unprecedented levels of hunger in our communities,” said David Potter, Olean Food Pantry Board President. “We entered this year with a goal to address a 95.4 percent increase in pantry clients since 2020. That need has officially more than doubled since then. We seek community solutions to community problems, which aren’t tied to politics or other issues.”

OLEAN, N.Y, October 11 – Griffis Sculpture Park, an open-air art sanctuary, illuminates the night sky for multiple weekends each autumn, and with the help of a grant from the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, park visitors found a more culturally enriching experience this year.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sesame run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume those products.

Last night, Station 8 was dispatched to Cowenesque Lake on RT. 49 for a Water Rescue. The boat had capsized with one person on the boat. The boater was able to swim to shore and was checked over by the Lawrenceville Ambulance crew.

LFD crews assisted the Army Corps with flipping the boat and towing it back to the boat launch to be loaded back onto its trailer.
