Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) alerted motorists that the Interstate 80 westbound rest area at mile marker 194 will close Tuesday, May 28, while construction occurs at the rest area’s water treatment facility. PennDOT expects the facility to be closed for approximately a month.
The eastbound facility will remain open during this period. PennDOT reminded drivers that the rest areas at mile markers 220 and 147 will remain open.
Monday, May 20th, 2024 at approximately 1605, the Allegany Fire Department responded to Chapel Hill Road in the Town of Humphrey for a vehicle fire. While in route units were advised that the vehicle was hauling a large fuel tank. Weston Mills Fire Department was requested to respond with an engine carrying foam. Units arrived on location and were able to contain the fire to the vehicle. Responding units were E31, E30, R7, and UT 261.

Education:
4-year bachelor’s degree preferred
Specific Education/ Experience:
2-4 year engineering degree, plus 3 to 5 years of manufacturing work experience. Candidates with Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering degrees are preferred.
Specific Skills and/or Experience with Software, Equipment, etc.:
MS Office, Autocad, Solidworks, Fanuc Robots, RSLogix, AB Panelbuilder, CTC HMI, Compumotor. Experience with equipment such as ultrasonic and vibration welding, automated vision, and electrical testing is desired.

Lewis E. “Lew” Snyder Sr., loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather
Olean- Lewis E. “Lew” Snyder Sr. formerly of Brook St. passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Olean, after a short illness.
Lew was born in Newfield, PA., on July 16, 1931, he was the son of the late Luther and Margaret (Blackman) Snyder. He was orphaned at the age of 3, and was raised by his beloved aunt and uncle, Susan (Snyder) and Martin Falk. On October 29, 1950, in Roulette, PA, he married his loving wife, Luella J. Snyder, who predeceased him, August 3, 2012.
Lew attended Roulette High School and later received his GED from New York State. He went on to work for the American Olean Tile Plant and St. Bonaventure University Security, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed memberships with, Allegany American Legion, Post # 892, The Allegany 60 Plus Club, The Pulaski Club of Olean, The Moose Lodge of Olean and The Elks Lodge of Olean.
DONALD EDWARD DAILY passed on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at August Health Care in Annandale VA.
He was born Jan 24, 1935, in Wellsville NY, the beloved son of the late Seward W. and Gertrude Daily; longtime companion of Pat Seward; brother of S. Russell and Alan W. Daily and the late Joanne Horton. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
A memorial gathering was held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 celebrating Don’s life at KALAS FUNERAL HOME, Oxon Hill, MD 20745.
Donald grew up in Genesee, PA, and graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy High School in 1953. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute then served in the Air Force for 3 years. He was employed by the Army Map Service until he retired as a cartographer. Donald enjoyed sports, bowling and softball, dancing and going on cruises.
Vicki Jo Wood, 47, of Westfield, PA passed away May 20, 2024, surrounded by family, following a brave fight with cancer.
She was born July 11, 1976, in Wellsboro to Larry and Marion (Davis) Wood. Vicki Worked at STL Logistics in Painted Post. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, being with her son Tyler, hunting, travelling with her partner Michael, and especially tending to her flowers.
Matthew Lance Scott Holdren, age 29 of Elkland, PA passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
He was born in Fayetteville, NC on May 12, 1995 and was a son to David K. Holdren and Christine M. Towner.
Matt enjoyed playing games on his Xbox, listening to music, cooking and grilling, traveling, spending time with his family and exploring different hobbies that intrigued him. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending countless hours hiking, kayaking, fishing and enjoying the lake. His children, Karalyn and Jameson, were his pride and joys and it was said his biggest life accomplishment was achieved once he had his children. Matt was also known as the family prankster and instigator; he always knew how to get people laughing.

Born July 4, 1967, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Jayne Schroll.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1985.
Joel had been employed with the former Pittsburgh Corning Co. of Port Allegany, and most recent as a bus driver with Muccio Bus Service, Port Allegany.
Brenda D. Seth, 69, of Spruce Ave. in Kane, PA passed away Friday (May 17) in the Lutheran Home at Kane surrounded by her family following a brief illness. Born June 10, 1954 in Kane, she is the daughter of the late William and Nina “Janie” (Gerhart) Read. On May 10, 1975 in Kane she married Walter Seth, who survives.
Brenda had worked at various places throughout her life including CeraMag, the Kane Credit Union and most recently as a secretary at Tabor Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Hallton Church of Christ in Ridgway. Brenda enjoyed her weekly Bible studies and spending time with her family and friends. But most of all she enjoyed being a Grammy.

Helene (Hamilton) Anthony, age 85, of Wellsboro, PA, formerly of West Hartford, CT, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 in the comfort of friends and family.
She was born on October 7, 1938 in Winsted, CT, a daughter of the late Cyril and Lucy (Ziegel) Hamilton, and was married to the late Raymond Ernest Anthony II, who passed away in 1968.
Helene was a Registered Nurse who graduated in 1959 from the Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, CT. Helene practiced nursing while living in California, New Jersey, and Connecticut, before she retired and settled in PA. She was an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center after her retirement. She enjoyed travelling and often took 2 cruise vacations per year.
She also enjoyed reading, listening to jazz music, visiting NYC, Broadway shows and concerts, weekly lunch dates with her close friends, spoiling her nieces and nephews, Dunkin Donuts coffee, casino trips, and winning trivia games.

She was born October 6, 1937 in Fisher, PA, the daughter of Charles and Jane (Klingensmith) Jones.
Clara was a mold operator working at Pennsylvania Pressed Metal, then GKN of Emporium, PA.
She was a member of the Norwich Twp. Fire Department, the American Legion Auxiliary, John Berg Post #976 of Crosby, and the Crosby United Methodist Church.
Barbara A. “Barb” Slike, 53, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Roswell Park Cancer Institute Center after a long fight with cancer.

Patricia Ann (Reitz) Pecora, 83, of 331 Interstate Parkway, Bradford, PA passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 17, 2024, at her home.
Born on July 12, 1940, in South Bend, Indiana, she was the second daughter of William and Jewel (Tyring) Reitz.
Pat was a 1958 graduate of St. Joseph High School and a 1962 graduate of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance. In the summer of 1962, she began working for the Kennedy administration, specifically for the Secretary of Commerce in Washington, D.C.
On November 11, 1967, she married Stanley E. Pecora, Jr. at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
Pat was a parishioner of St. Bernard Church, served as the Parish Secretary (1979-1989), and Financial Secretary for Pecora and Duke Law Firm (1989-2012). She was also a member of the LaStella Auxiliary and the St. Bernard’s Catholic Women’s Group.
