Position Available
Library Assistant
Coudersport Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to assist with day-to-day operations.
Essential duties include:
• Assisting patrons with locating Library materials
• Recommending Library materials to patrons of all ages
• Circulation and shelving of materials
• Issuing Library cards
• Processing Interlibrary Loan requests
• Cataloging and processing new materials
• Answering telephone, internet and in-person inquiries
• Assisting patrons with basic technology-related issues
• Performing light housekeeping tasks as necessary
• Assisting at Library events during regular hours and after hours
• Carrying out cleaning and disinfecting protocols
• Presenting a positive, professional and pleasant demeanor
• Performing other duties as directed
Applicants should possess, at minimum, a high school diploma or GED; basic clerical skills and the ability to process information effectively using a computer; some knowledge of literature and willingness to discuss/recommend materials for all age groups; physical strength and dexterity to handle books and boxes, move loaded book carts and to place items on high and low shelves. This position involves daytime and evening hours, with weekend hours on a rotating basis. The successful applicant must possess, or upon notice of hire immediately obtain, current PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.

Lucille “Lucy” Gleason Boysha, 98, of Barden Brook Road, Eldred, PA
ELDRED, Pa. – Lucille “Lucy” Gleason Boysha, of Barden Brook Road, passed away Sunday (Nov. 5, 2023) at the Lake View Senior Care in Smethport.
Born July 6, 1925, in Coudersport, she was the daughter of Edwin Z. and Polly E. Shreve Fisk. In 1942, she married Charles Gleason, who predeceased her. On April 26, 2008, she married James P. Boysha, who predeceased her Nov. 11, 2014.
Lucy worked at various factories in the area including the former munitions plant in Eldred, Acme Electric Co. and the Olean Tile Plant.
Annual Cards for Troops library program launches November 13
The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library is excited to bring back our Cards for Troops Program ahead of this holiday season. The cards will then be included with Emporium’s Military Christmas Boxes this year.

Join the Bradford Area Public Library for an informative and engaging presentation that will offer an alternative perspective on the history of Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 9 at 6PM. Annual Veterans Dinner Saturday at Port Allegany VMI
The annual Veterans Dinner will be held November 11 at the VMI (Veterans Memorial, Inc.) located at 4743 Route #155 in Port Allegany. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. There is a sign-up sheet at the VMI or reservations can be made via telephone at 814-642-2547.

PITT-BRADFORD THEATER PRESENTS ‘THE WOLVES’
BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will present “The Wolves,” a Pulitzer Prize finalist about a young women’s soccer team, Nov. 9-12 in the Studio Theater in Blaisdell Hall.

House Fire on Rock Run Road in Turtlepoint, PA
At 0940 Smethport Fire Department Inc. was dispatched for mutual aid with Port Allegany for a fully involved structure fire at 1800 Rock Run Road. It was quickly upgraded to a second alarm bringing in Eldred Borough VFD, Eldred Township Fire Department, Roulette Chemical Engine #1, Coudersport Vol FireDept, Hamlin Township Vfd, and Portville (NY).
Crews were still on the scene at the time of this post and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Details will be released later, however, a photo was captured of a cat that was rescued from the structure. The home was a total loss.

Penn College set for cross-country regionals
A week and a half ago, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men won their first United East Conference cross-country crown and the women placed sixth, with five men and two women earning all-conference accolades in the process. On Saturday, things step up a notch at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Championships.
“The regional meet brings a next level of competition for our men and women. The Mid-Atlantic Region is a quality region with some of the top Division III teams in the country,” coach Tom Leeser said.
