Our beloved brother and uncle lived life to the fullest. He loved the outdoors. You could always find him riding his motorcycle, on his boat, swimming, fishing, playing basketball or just enjoying life. There isn’t a family member or friend that doesn’t have a great story to share about Pete “Doc”. He was kind, humble and had a gentle soul. We will remember and celebrate him, especially every year on the Fourth of July, Pete’s birthday. We know he will be there in spirit.
Words cannot begin to express what Pete meant to his family or to his many, many friends. Our hearts are broken, and our lives will never be the same without him.
Surviving are three brothers: William (Amelia) Whelan of Eagle, ID, David (Lois) Whelan of Bradford, and Thomas Whelan of Lewis Run, and seven sisters: Maureen (Michael) Goodman of Ashville, NY, Katherine (Peter) Casartelli of Penfield, NY, Anne Fair of Georgetown, TX, Denise (Stephen) Housler of Bradford, Joan (Robert) Carloni of Charleston WV, Susan (Thomas) Morris of Bradford, and Patricia (Thomas) Lorenzo of Fairport, NY. Pete was an amazing uncle to 31 nieces and nephews as well as 24 grandnieces and grandnephews. He had the gift of making all of them feel so special and loved; they cherished and adored their Uncle Pete.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John J. Whelan, Dr. Paul Whelan Jr., and Francis J. Whelan. Our family is a testament to the life and love bestowed upon us by our amazing parents, Dr. Paul & Kathryn Whelan.

Linda C. Troutman, 76, Bradford, PA
Linda C. Troutman – Lovingly known to many as “Chickie”
September 1946-April 2023
Our Mother, Grandmother, friend had a difficult, sometimes confusing yet sometimes perfect relationship with each of us. In the end we knew her love for us was unconditional and real.
She was stubborn, yet kind- a very strong-willed person. She was the storm, yet the calm before the storm. Those that knew her well knew she was a true warrior as she battled and pushed through many illnesses right to the very end. She passed away peacefully and her suffering has come to an end. Through it all she kept her faith in God.
A lifetime of memories, the good, the not so good, the crazy times, the laughs will always remain with us. From the sleepovers with pampering, cow milking, dancing and the fresh air fund to bring city children to experience country life to the way she loved her dogs and the many, many miles she taxied all of us around. She was so many things to so many people. She volunteered for multiple organizations that helped to make lives better. Her bond with her children, grandchildren and many friends were each uniquely special to her. She was proud of her four girls. From her eldest child to her youngest and every child in between, she loved each of them and their families.
She was an avid dog lover and supported the local SPCA where she recently adopted her final love, Honey. In her younger years she was a phenomenal roller skater that led to her later passion for dancing. She had rhythm like no other and loved when her family would join her for local dances. She developed many close friends through her love for dance and loved her “dance family.” She also had a passion for shopping and jewelry. She had a bond, that can only be described as “sisters”, with her lifelong best friend Barb Zamberlin, who was very special to her. She had many close friends and family pass before her that she was a comfort to as she took to helping the elderly as she grew older herself.
Her annual spaghetti dinner on the first day of deer season was something special that we all looked forward to. She always did her part in making Christmas, birthdays and every day special for her girls. She helped in providing us a lifetime of memories and things we will reminisce about for years to come. Each sister, family member and friend had special times and memories with her to pass along to future generations. Her journey has come full circle and may our Mother, Grandmother, and friend rest in peace. Until we meet again, we love you.
Linda is survived by her daughters, (Vickie (Robert) Baker, Terri (Gregory) Seal, and Dana (Michael) Mollander) that she shares with Richard “Ben” Troutman, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Lottie (Boyd) and Charles Howell, her in-laws Carolyn and Richard Troutman that were truly like parents to her, a cousin Norma Ryan, a very close friend Wesleah Blair and two companions.
Family will receive friends and family from 5-7pm on Friday April 21st at the Mascho Funeral Home, 75 Kennedy Street, Bradford, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the McKean County SPCA, P.O. Box 113, Bradford, PA 16701.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc.
