AUDITIONS FOR HAMILTON-GIBSON’S PRODUCTION OF “EXIT LAUGHING” ARE FRIDAY, DEC. 30, 2022 AND WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, JAN. 4 AND 5
Friday, Dec. 30 at 1:30 p.m. in the Warehouse Theatre at 3 Central Avenue in Wellsboro and at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 4 and 5, Hamilton-Gibson Productions isholding auditions forthe four female characters and one male in “Exit Laughing,” a comedy by Paul Elliott.
“Exit Laughing” asks and answers this question: When the biggest highlight in your life for nearly 30 years has been your weekly bridge night out with the “girls,” what do you do when one of your foursome inconveniently dies?
If you’re Connie, Leona and Millie, you “borrow” the ashes from the funeral home for one last card game, and the wildest, most exciting night of your lives that involves a surprise visit from the law and a whole new way of looking at all the fun you can have when you’re truly living. There are lots of laughs and a few thoughtful moments.
“No acting experience is necessary to audition, just a willingness to have fun and be crazy,” said Director Thomas Putnam.
Rachel Ann Harland is college age, a young woman who seems to have issues with life and men until bridge night opens her eyes.
Connie Harland is 45 to 55ish. She is Rachel’s mother and the host for the regular bridge night with her good friends.
Leona is a close friend of Connie’s and a long-time member of the bridge club. A beautician by profession, she is a bit of a caustic lush by preference.
Millie is another friend and long-standing member of the bridge club. A bit on the ditzy side, she doesn’t realize how clueless (and funny) she is.
Bobby is a college age male who finds enterprising ways to put himself through school. The actor needs to be in good shape and be very comfortable with his body.
Performances will be in the Warehouse Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, March 3 and 4 and 10 and 11 and at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays, March 5 and 12.
Admission is $16 for adults and $8 for children 18 and under. Tickets are available now online by visiting hgp.booktix.com.
For more information about the auditions or for tickets, call Hamilton-Gibson Productions at 570-724-2079 or email hamgib@gmail.com.
