A “Wynken, Blynken and Nod” book signing is being held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. next Saturday, July 19 at From My Shelf Books and Gifts at 7 East Avenue in Wellsboro.

Signing the Wellsboro-focused version of “Wynken, Blynken, & Nod” will be Kevin Coolidge, publisher of the book, and Linda Stager, photographer. 

Written by Eugene Field, the poem is in the public domain, and so Coolidge decided to publish a version of his own. “Because I write books, I formed my own publishing house,” Coolidge said. “Wynken, Blynken, & Nod” will be one of the few books that he will publish that he didn’t actually write. 

Included in it are the poem written by Field, information about Field and the history of the statue in Wellsboro along with color photographs taken of the statue and The Green during the different seasons of the year by Linda Stager of Wellsboro. She is an award-winning author, outdoor writer, and photographer. Her photographs can be seen in various tourism and travel brochures and on a variety of magazine covers. 

The statue of Wynken, Blynken and Nod is the centerpiece of The Green, a park in the heart of Wellsboro. The poem has been a perennial bestseller at the bookstore for almost 20 years, and is adored by locals and visitors alike.
