Winifred Louise Edinger, 90, Of, Smethport, PA
Winifred Louise Edinger, 90, passed away on October 18, 2024 at the Sean- Kean Manor in Smethport, PA.
The daughter of the late Hartley and Emma (Winner) Adair, she was born on March 25, 1934. She attended Kane Area High School graduating in 1952. On November 19, 1955 she married Donald Edinger in Mount Jewett, PA who passed away April 5, 1990.
Upon graduation she was employed at Dresser Manufacturing Division in Bradford, PA.
She was a member of the Light on the Hill Community Church where she served as church secretary for many years, a former member of the Mt. Jewett Borough Council, the Mt. Jewett Library, Mt. Jewett American Legion Auxiliary, Mt. Jewett Sewer Authority, the Ambulance Association and the prior Mt. Jewett High School Alumni Association.
She received the first award Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mt. Jewett Swedish Festival Committee.
Winnie knew a lot about the history of Mt. Jewett and never hesitated to tell people about it, when asked, and sometimes when not asked.
Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Terry Edinger, three brothers; James Richard Adair, Donald H. Adair, and William Adair, three sisters; Helen Kennedy, Dorothy P. Larson, Phyllis Bills.
She is survived by a brother Robin Adair of Melbourne, Florida and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thank you to Laurie Larson Merrill for her care.
Friends and family will be received Saturday October 26, 2024 at the Light on the Hill Community Church in Mt. Jewett from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. A memorial service will follow immediately after with the Rev. Beverly Spore officiating.
Burial will take place in the Nebo Cemetery, Mt. Jewett.
