William R. Pichler, age 83, of 221 Fairview Road, Kersey, PA passed away at home on January 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born on October 8, 1940, at the family homestead in Kersey, son of the late Albert and Mary Anzinger Pichler, Sr. Bill was a lifelong resident of Kersey and a member of the last graduating class of Kersey High School, Class of 1959.
He was married on April 16, 1966, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church to his wife Ellen Forster, who survives. They were blessed to share 57 years of marriage.
In addition to his loving wife, Bill is survived by one son: William C. Pichler (Denise) of Kersey, two daughters: Jennifer Quagliani (Ken) of St. Marys, and Anne Decker (William) of Treasure Lake: eight grandchildren: Andrew Pichler (Kristen), Brianna Pichler Woxland (Garett), Lacie Pichler, Joshua Pichler, Kali Yonlisky, Lindsey Quagliani, Mathias Wolfel, and Braelyn Wolfel; two great-grandchildren: Blake and Rhett Pichler; two sisters: Nancy Challingsworth (Ralph) and Betty Swanson; one brother, Albert Pichler, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and his most loyal friend Charlie, his Golden Retriever.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Pichler, on February 13, 2000.
Bill focused his life around three main pillars: faith, family/friends, and work. Bill was a member of St. Boniface Parish and a charter member of the Kersey Knights of Columbus. Bill was the Owner/Operator of Pichler’s Garage, he found great pride in assisting his customers, and retired from his business in 2000 after 40 years. Time with family gave Bill the most joy and his pastimes were centered around hobbies that allowed just that.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be held in St. Boniface Church on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Kevin Holland, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to arrive at 9:15 AM for visitation if desired in the St. Boniface Gathering Space.
