William M. Peterson, 82, of Greeves St., Kane, PA
William M. Peterson, 82, of Greeves St., Kane, PA passed away Wednesday morning (Jan. 31) in the Lutheran Home at Kane. Born April 19, 1941 in Kane, he is the son of the late Ed and Cora (Detwiler) Peterson. On June 13, 1963, in Kane, he married Juanita “Nita” Clawges, who preceded him in death on July 26, 2021.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of Kane High School and a 1963 graduate of Alfred State College, where he received a degree in Soil Conservation. He joined the Army after college graduation and served six months in active duty and six years in the National Guard. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service after a long career as a forester.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, his beagles and his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was a kind man with a gentle soul. He always had a listening ear.
He is survived by two sons, Dan (Melissa) Peterson and Tim (Susan) Peterson, both of Kane.; five granddaughters, Kelsey Peterson, Megan (Aaron) Pascazi, Ally Peterson, Emily Peterson and Anna Peterson; one grandson, Derek Peterson; a great-grandson, Lorenzo Pascazi and one sister, Judy (Greg) Philips of Myrtle Beach, SC.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ed Peterson.
Friends are invited to attend a viewing on Saturday (Feb. 3) from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00, with the Rev. David Pfleiger, officiating.
Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.
