William G. Taylor, 88, of Route 646, Gifford, PA
William G. Taylor, 88, of Route 646, Gifford, PA passed away Saturday (Apr. 1, 2023) at home, with family by his side.
Born Aug. 15, 1934, he was a son of John H. and Edna V. Gallup Taylor. On Jun. 12, 1954, in Eldred, he married Faye E. Farrell, who died May 30, 2020. They were married 65 years.
William was employed with Corning Glass Works, Bradford, retiring in 1989, after 21 of service. He also worked with his sons in the family excavating company. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and managed to visit all 50 states.
He was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church of Gifford. He was an avid craftsman who built toys, furniture and designed & built his own home. He also loved to garden.
He is survived by two sons, David L. (Julie) Taylor of Gifford and Rodney A. Taylor; five grandchildren: Kristin Sledjeski, Kathryn Oberg, Andrew Taylor, David Taylor and Rebecca Williams; and 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Faye, a daughter, Dianna L. Taylor, three brothers: Edward, John Jr., and Raymond L. Taylor; four sisters: Naomi Covert, Beulah Zindren, Beatrice Dann, and Dorothy Kenneson.
Friends will be received from 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday (Apr. 5, 2023) in the Hilltop Baptist Church, Gifford, where a funeral and committal service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Max Simms, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
Memorials can be made to the Hilltop Baptist Church or Dianna Taylor Memorial Scholarship @ Smethport Area High School.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
