Willard J. “Buster” Kennedy, 88, of Ohio Ave. in James City, PA passed away Sunday night (Dec. 17) in the Lutheran Home at Kane, where he had recently resided.
Born March 22, 1935 in Tidioute, he is the son of the late Willard and Dorothy “Dot” (Bowley) Kennedy. On June 18, 1983 in Kane, he married Shirley Winner, who preceded him in death.
Buster drove truck, dozer and skidder and worked as an operator for John Kocjancic. He also had worked at the Wilcox Tannery and retired from the Johnsonburg Paper Mill after many years of service.
He was a member of the Kane VFW Lodge #1132, the Wilcox Sportsman Club, the Clarendon Vets Lounge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles AERIE #307 and the Central Hose Social Club in Johnsonburg. Buster was also a past member of the Kane Elks Lodge and the Kane Lions Club.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda Winter of Johnsonburg; two sons, Doug (Tricia) Kennedy of French Creek and Joe (Barbie) Kennedy of Johnsonburg; three stepdaughters, Trudy (Rick) Powell and Tracy (Swede) Swanson both of Kane and Tina (Bob) Harpst of Cranesville; two stepsons, William “Bernie” (Robin) Lundberg and Richard Lundberg, both of Kane; 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and two brothers, Robert “Dunk” (Mona Kearney) Kennedy and Jim “Weed” (Linda) Kennedy, both of Johnsonburg.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Willie Kennedy and three grandsons, Jacob Harpst, Jesse Swanson and Michael Kennedy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be announced.
