WELLSBORO WOMEN’S CHORUS AND THE WEDNESDAY MORNING MUSICALES TO PRESENT “FOR LOVE OF GOD AND COUNTRY” CONCERT NEXT SUNDAY, NOV. 5 AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Next Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m., the Wellsboro Women’s Chorus and the Wednesday Morning Musicales are presenting a concert titled “For Love of God and Country” at the First Presbyterian Church at 130 Main Street in Wellsboro.
The concert is in celebration of Veterans Day, being observed on Saturday, Nov. 11, and features inspirational and patriotic songs. It will open with the audience and both choruses singing “The Pledge of Allegiance.”
The 34–member Wellsboro Women’s Chorus is singing 11 songs including “We Believe,” “Down to the River to Pray,” “Redeemer,” “Blessings,” “How Can I Keep From Singing,” “I Will Lift My Voice and Sing,” “America, The Beautiful,” “My America,” “We Stand United,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Thank You, Soldiers.” The directors are Suzanne Niles and Diana Frazier and the accompanist is Judy Smithgall.
The 32–member Wednesday Morning Musicales is singing six songs. They are: “A Festive Call to Freedom,” “To Those Who Serve,” “A Prayer For Peace,” “Land of the Free,” “Heal Our Land” and “The Folded Flag.” The director is Diana Frazier and the accompanist is Marian Miller.
The concert will end with both choruses joining to sing “A Tribute to the Armed Services.” During this song, veterans are asked to stand as their branch of the service is recognized.
All veterans and men and women currently serving in the military are invited to attend and wear something to represent their service branch.
Those who have a picture of a special veteran in their lives are asked to bring that with them and hold it up during the last song. Those who don’t are asked to write their special veteran’s name on a piece of paper and hold that up.
A dessert social at the church will follow the concert. Both are open to the public. A free-will offering would be appreciated. The Wellsboro Business & Professional Women are sponsoring this concert.
